About Me

I’m Rebecca O’Donnell, an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker with over 20 years’ experience supporting adults, children and families through life’s most challenging experiences.

My work is grounded in a deep respect for people’s resilience and inner wisdom. I believe that trauma responses are normal reactions to overwhelming experiences—and that recovery and healing are always possible. Areas of Support

I support clients with:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • Attachment and relationship difficulties

  • Impacts of family violence and sexual assault

  • Complex trauma and developmental trauma

  • Stress and burnout, including first responder trauma

  • Emotional regulation and self‑understanding

I work with adults, children and families, adapting therapy to suit each person’s needs, pace and goals.

Therapeutic Modalities

I draw on a range of evidence‑based therapeutic approaches, tailored to each client:

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Solution‑Focused Therapy

  • Family Therapy

  • Polyvagal Informed Therapy

  • Somatic Therapy

  • Mindfulness and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies

These approaches are integrated thoughtfully, always guided by what feels most supportive and effective for you.

Trauma and Relationships

I have a strong interest in how trauma impacts relationships—whether trauma occurred early in life through attachment disruptions, or later through experiences such as violence, assault or repeated exposure to stress.

With additional qualifications in Family Therapy, I work with an understanding that healing often happens in connection with others, not in isolation. Therapy can support you to develop safer relationships, stronger boundaries, and greater compassion for yourself and those around you.

What You Can Expect

When working with me, you can expect:

  • A calm, respectful and non‑judgemental space

  • Therapy that moves at your pace

  • A collaborative relationship built on trust and safety

  • An approach that honours your strengths and lived experience

  • Evidence‑based therapy grounded in compassion

Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is a vital space for reflection, learning, and professional growth. Whether you are new to the sector or an experienced practitioner, supervision offers the opportunity to step back from the work, think critically and compassionately about your practice, and continue to develop your skills in a supportive and respectful environment.

I view supervision as a safe, collaborative, and reflective space where clinicians can explore their work openly — including successes, challenges, ethical considerations, and the emotional impact of practice. Supervision is not about performance or judgement; it is about curiosity, growth, and strengthening your confidence and clinical integrity.

My approach to supervision is grounded in trauma‑informed, reflective, and relational practice. I understand the complexity of working with trauma, violence, and systemic harm, and the importance of having a space where your experiences as a practitioner are held with care, respect, and thoughtfulness.

What Supervision Can Support

Clinical supervision may support you to:

  • Reflect on clinical work and decision‑making

  • Develop and strengthen therapeutic skills

  • Explore ethical dilemmas and professional responsibilities

  • Increase confidence and clarity in your role

  • Understand and respond to the impacts of trauma work

  • Build sustainable, reflective practice over time

Supervision is tailored to your individual needs, experience level, and professional context.
