Accessing Support
There are a number of ways you may be able to access therapeutic support with Rebecca, depending on your individual circumstances.
This may include a Medicare Mental Health Treatment Plan, DVA-funded support, Open Arms, BlueHub, WorkCover, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), private health insurance, or privately funded appointments.
Understanding referral and funding pathways can sometimes feel confusing. The information below provides an overview of the different options available and can help you identify the pathway that may be most appropriate for you.
Medicare Mental Health Treatment plans
If you have a diagnosed mental health condition, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for sessions with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker under a Mental Health Treatment Plan.
A Mental Health Treatment Plan can be prepared by your GP, psychiatrist or paediatrician. Your referring practitioner can discuss your eligibility with you and provide a referral if appropriate.
Under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, eligible clients can access Medicare rebates for up to 10 individual mental health treatment sessions per calendar year. A Medicare rebate applies to the session fee, which means there may be an out-of-pocket cost.
You are also welcome to see Rebecca without a Mental Health Treatment Plan as a privately funded client.
Open Arms / DVA
Open Arms – Veterans & Families Counselling provides free and confidential counselling and support to eligible current and former members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.
Rebecca is able to provide counselling to eligible clients through Open Arms referrals. There is no out-of-pocket cost to you for sessions that are approved and funded through Open Arms.
If you are already connected with Open Arms, you can discuss a referral to Rebecca with them. If you are unsure whether you are eligible for Open Arms support, you can contact Open Arms directly to discuss your circumstances and available options.
BlueHub - Victoria Police & AFP
BlueHub provides specialised psychological and counselling support for current serving Victoria Police and Victorian-based Australian Federal Police (AFP) members experiencing work-related trauma.
Rebecca is a BlueHub clinician and provides trauma-informed therapeutic support to police members referred through the BlueHub program.
BlueHub can assist members to understand the different pathways available to fund treatment, which may include WorkCover or Comcare, Medicare, private health insurance or other eligible funding arrangements.
If you are a Victoria Police or Victorian-based AFP member and would like to access support with Rebecca through BlueHub, you can contact BlueHub to discuss your circumstances and referral options.
WorkCover
Rebecca provides therapeutic support to clients who are accessing treatment following a work-related psychological injury.
If you have an accepted WorkCover claim, counselling sessions may be funded as part of your treatment, subject to the requirements and approval of your WorkCover insurer.
If you are currently navigating a WorkCover claim or are unsure whether psychological treatment is covered, you can speak with your insurer or case manager about your treatment options and whether a referral or approval is required.
You are welcome to contact Rebecca to discuss whether she is able to provide support under your particular WorkCover arrangements.
Other Funded Referral Pathways
Rebecca may also be able to provide therapeutic support through other funded referral pathways.
Rebecca has experience providing counselling funded through Victims Services NSW for eligible victims of crime, as well as through Open Doors Counselling and Support Services for Forgotten Australians.
Eligibility, referral processes and funding arrangements vary between programs. If you are accessing support through one of these programs, or another funded service, you are welcome to contact Rebecca to discuss whether counselling may be provided under your particular funding arrangement.
Private Health Insurance
Some private health insurance policies provide rebates for counselling sessions with an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
The amount you can claim and your eligibility for a rebate will depend on your individual policy and level of cover. You may wish to contact your private health insurer before your appointment to confirm whether services provided by an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker are included in your extras cover.
Private health insurance rebates generally cannot be claimed for the same session where a Medicare rebate or another funding arrangement has been used.
Private Appointments
You do not need a referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan to make an appointment with me.
Private appointments are available for people who would prefer to access therapy independently, do not meet the requirements of a funded referral pathway, or simply wish to begin therapy without obtaining a referral.
Fees
The standard fee for a private individual therapy appointment is $230 per session.
If you have private health insurance, you may be eligible to claim a rebate for sessions, depending on your individual policy and level of cover.
As a private client, you can contact me directly to discuss making an appointment. We can talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping for from support, and whether I may be the right therapist for you.
If you are unsure which pathway is most appropriate for you, you are welcome to get in touch and I can help you understand the options available.
